With the conclusion of the Selection event earlier today, the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) has finalized its selection squad to the FIDE Online World Cadets & Youth Chess Championship 2020 which is starting on 27th November 2020 until 23rd December 2020.

From the National Individual Online Rapid Chess Championship which was held late last month, six (6) junior players who have done well were automatically selected to represent Malaysia in the following Category

  1. CM Tan Jun Ying (U18 Boys) – Qualified as Overall Champion
  2. FM Lye Lik Zang (U16 Boys) – Qualified as 5th Overall
  3. Poh Yu Tian (U12 Boys) – Qualified as 2nd Overall
  4. Kavin Mohan (U10 Boys) – Qualified as 8th Overall
  5. WCM Chua Jia-Tien (U18 Girls) – Qualified as Best Lady
  6. Adira Addawiyah Abdul Aziz (U14 Girls) – Qualified as 2nd Best Lady

From the Selection that was held earlier today, four (4) more players are added to the fold, and they are:

  1. Aqil Alauddin Abdul Aziz (U14 Boys) – Selection Winner (7 players)
  2. WCM Sim Jia Ru (U16 Girls) – Selection Winner (5 players)
  3. Lee Xia Sean (U12 Girls) – Selection Winner (4 players)
  4. Nur Azzalea Shahril Azahar (U10 Girls) – Selection Winner (5 players)

The Malaysian contingent will be managed by Iwan Schani Ibnu – MCF Assistant Secretary, who will act as the Head of Delegation for the team.
