A gentle reminder for everyone on the closing dates for a few critical events that may be of interest to many:
MALAYSIAN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
The closing date to register is on the 22nd of April 2023 which also coincides with the first day of Eid Fitri. Please click HERE to learn more about the event and to sign up to play. With ASIAN Continental Event to be held in June and the FIDE World Cup in July, the champions for the Open and the Women event will have a chance to be selected to represent Malaysia at the event. The National Challenger Champion may have the option to go to the Asian Amateur Chess Championship to be held in Dubai in September 2023.
AZERBAIJAN NATIONAL LEADER’S DAY CHESS TOURNAMENT 2023 (FIDE RAPID)
The closing to register has been extended to 22nd April 2023 – a week later than the earlier published dates. It is FREE ENTRY for players above FIDE Rating 2000 with MCF ID. Those below 2000 Rating will be accepted subject to space availability and with an entry fee of RM80 (for Open) and RM40 (for Women). Only 64 players will be accepted. Please read all about the event by clicking HERE, Players below 2000 will be informed of their entry before 30th April 2023. The Open Champion stands to win RM1,000 for his/her effort while the Women counterpart to bag RM600.
21st ASEAN+ AGE-GROUP CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023 – Bangkok, Thailand (U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, U20 And 50+, 65+)
The closing date to register is on the 20th of April and to date, the response from the Malaysian players has been very dismal. MCF urges more players to sign up for the event as it will allow players to pit strength against some of the better ASIAN Junior players from Vietnam, China, the Philippines, and Indonesia. WORLD YOUTH RAPID AND BLITZ CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
Entry for this event has been closed. Initially, there was one interested entry for the event but due to conflicting schedules, the interest was withdrawn.
FIDE ZONE 3.3 CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2023
The Open entry for this event has been closed and to date, Malaysia will only have its official representative in the form of CM Tan Jun Ying for the Open event, and WIM Siti Zulaikha Foudzi for the Women’s event – both of whom were Malaysia’s National Champions 2022. The event is set to start from the 5th of May to the 13th of May 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
