Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Seri Iskandar, Perak
5th to 7th June 2022

After two years of absence due to the pandemic, the annual National Youth Chess Championship a.k.a National Age Group will make its return for the 2022 edition. The Malaysian Chess Federation is glad to inform that the management of the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS has agreed to host the event as part of their 25th Year Silver Jubilee Celebration

Scheduled to be held at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS main campus in Seri Iskandar, Perak from 5th to 7th June 2022, the event will be divided into 6 playing categories – Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, and Under 18, for both Open/Boys and Girls events. Time control for the event is set at 45 minutes + 15 seconds per player per game played over 8 rounds using the Swiss format. This event will be Nationally rated – NOT FIDE Rated, and players who would like to play in the event must have or must first register to have an MCF ID prior to submitting their registration. The entry fee is RM50 per player and the closing date for registration is on or before 31st May 2022. The Malaysian Chess Federation will take the necessary steps to approve the MCF ID registration within 24 to 48 hours in view that many players will start to flood the registration portal.

There is no limit to the number of entries for the event as long as the registration is made before the closing date. The winners of each playing category will have the right to represent Malaysia at similar Age Group events at the ASIAN and ASEAN levels.
