The most awaited National Event is set to be held from 3rd to 7th May 2023 at Flemington Hotel, in Taiping, Perak. This year’s format will be the same as last year where the event is divided into 3 categories – the Open, the Women, and the Challenger Category. The only difference is that the Challenger category is set for those under 1800 and Unrated players.

Players below a FIDE Rating of 1800 are allowed to play in the Open Category but will be required to pay a higher entry fee. No Unrated players are permitted in the Open/Women category

For State Representative, players who are above 2000 – and nominated by the states, are given FREE ENTRY, but each state can only nominate a maximum of 4 players for the Open and 2 players for the Women. Those under 2000 nominated by the state will be charged RM50 (for Open) and RM40 (for Women), and those below 1800 will be charged RM100 (for Open) and RM80 (for Women).

If you are not able to get your state to nominate your entry for the Open or Women Category, players can still enter as open entries. For Open entries, below 1800, the entry fee is RM200 for the Open and RM150 for the Women Categories.

For the Challenger category, it is not required to get the state to nominate as it is open to all Unrated and those with a FIDE Rating of below 1800.

The closing date for all entries is on 22nd April 2023 which is on Raya eve, and entries received after that will be accepted at the organizer’s discretion with an RM100 penalty. No entries will be accepted at all by 30th April 2023.
