On the same, MCF is also inviting Amateur chess players – below FIDE Rating 1700, 2000 and 2300, to participate at the upcoming World Amateur Chess Championship to be held in Muscat, Oman from 1st November to 11th November 2023. The last date to apply is on the 1st of September 2023.

The event will be contested over 9 rounds of play using the standard time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds. Muscat, Oman was the host city for the Asian Amateur which was held last year where MCF CIO – Iwan Schani Ibnu, took the initiative to participate.

As usual, the organizer may request a letter of support or endorsement from the Malaysian Chess Federation for for that, please write to mcfsecretariat@malaysiachess.org to obtain the support letter. Similarly, MCF will support all application to play in the event and would like to see many Malaysians to take up the challenge in Oman.
