MCF is set to organize the 2026 edition of the National Scholastic Chess Championship in July at the AEON Hall, AEON Mall Shah Alam, Shah Alam, Selangor. To manage the increasing number of players looking forward to joining, the event has been divided into 2 weekends to separate players into the Secondary schoolers and Primary schoolers age groups.
The championship for the Secondary schoolers’ age groups – Under 17, Under 15, and Under 13, will be held on the 4th and 5th of July 2026
And the championship rounds for the Primary schoolers’ age groups – Under 11, Under 9, and Under 7, will be held two weeks later on the 18th and 19th of July 2026.
Players are reminded to play and remain only in their respective age bracket and gender, and not play in the higher age groups.
Winners of each age group will have the option to accept the offer as Malaysia’s official representative for similar events held abroad, where players are usually offered free accommodation and board to participate. Similarly, with Malaysia/MCF set to organize the first-ever Commonwealth Schools Chess Championship in October 2026, the winners will receive free entry and accommodation to play at the inaugural championship set to be held from the 4th of October until the 12th of October 2026.
To attract more Malaysians to participate in this year’s scholastic event and the Commonwealth Schools Chess Championship, the Malaysian Chess Federation will also be extending its offer to players who finished 2nd and 3rd in each age group, a 20% discount on accommodation, and a 40% discount on entry fees to the Commonwealth event. The offer is also extended to those finishing in the top 10, a 10% discount on accommodation and a 20% discount on entry fees. However, offers are only valid until 1st August 2026, on the condition that all payments are made in full before the said date.
