There were definitely a lot of interest shown by many players – and parents, when MCF announced that it is looking for official players to represent Malaysia at the Commonwealth event scheduled to be held in Melaka from 19th to 28th February 2024. During the last week, MCF received more than 30 applications from aspiring young players who were interested to vie for the official spots to represent Malaysia in the U8 Open and Girls, U10 Open, U14 Open and OKU Open events. After careful consideration by the MCF Selection Committee, the following names have been selected to represent Malaysia at the upcoming Commonwealth Chess Championship 2023/24.

Under 8 Open – Choong Ee Sean
Under 8 Girls – Nik Aimee Camilla Nik Ahmad Farouqi
Under 10 Open – Wong Nico Joseph
Under 14 Open – Aqil A’lauddin Abdul Aziz
OKU (Open) – Ardian Syah Muming
OKU (Women) – Yoshni Ramakrishnan
