Closing Date Extended to 9th April 2024 (Tuesday)

With a few more days to go before registration closes, a total of 65 players have registered to play in this year’s edition of the Malaysian Chess Championship 2024. As for State entries – Melaka, Selangor, Sarawak and Penang has confirmed their representatives for the championship, with Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan and Johor have indicated that they will also sent players to take part in the annual competition.

As Co-Organizer for the event, Persatuan Catur Daerah Pontian (PCDP) has been active promoting the game to their local community and players from around the Pontian/JB districts to take part in this first ever event that is hitting their shores. According to PCDP Deputy President – Zaharul Azam Zainal Abidin, the local chess community is very excited to have had the opportunity to host this National event, and to welcome chess players from all over the country to the township of Pontian.

MCF is confident that the number of players will hit more than 100 within the next 48 hours in view that many players prefer to wait for the last minute before confirming their registration what more with Raya looming just around the corner.
