The Azerbaijan National Leader’s Day Chess Tournament is back for the 3rd edition.
To be hosted by UiTM Hotel Shah Alam, the FIDE Rated Rapid event is scheduled to take place on 17th May 2025 starting at 8:00am until 6:00pm. Played using a time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds over 7 Rounds, the event is open to all players but entry is limited due to space availability.
Divided by the Open/Men and Women category, a total prize fund of RM7,500 have been allocated for the eventual winners of the event
Players who are interested to participate are advised to read more about the event, and register before the event’s closing date. Players who are rated above 2100 (Men) and 1900 (Women), are invited to play for FREE.
Come and join the NSTP – MCF Mini Chess Festival to be held at World Trade Center Kuala Lumpur from 28th May to 1st June 2025.
Starting with the Open Blitz event on Wednesday, 28th May 2025 at 6:00pm and followed by the National Youth Rapid on Thursday and National Youth Blitz on Friday with Open Rapid event on Saturday ad Open Team event on Sunday.
Entries are limited to only 300 players (per event – 70 teams for the Open Team event) with RM20k set aside as the total prize fund. For the National Youth Rapid and Blitz event, winners will get Medals and e-certificates.
The NSTP-MCF Mini Chess Festival is held in conjunction with Pesta Buku organized at the same venue. Further, with MSSM ending on the 28th, and the start of school holidays on 29th May, the event is aimed at Youth players who have travelled far to participate at the MSSM, and to allow for out station players to return home on the 2nd of June which is also a Public Holiday to celebrate the Birthday of the Yang Di Pertuan Agong.

IYC and MCF invites schools in Malaysia to participate at the 2nd National Interschool Chess Championship to be held on the 7th and 8th of June 2025 at the International Youth Centre Kuala Lumpur.
Divided into Primary and Secondary school, the eventual champions will earn a spot to represent Malaysia at the FIDE World School Team Chess Championship to be held in Washington DC, USA from the 2nd to the 7th of August 2025

U2400 2/2025
MCF will continue its 2nd Quarter U2400 Standard event at its MCF Office on 12th and 13th April 2025
The event is set to be the warm up event prior to the 2025 edition of the Malaysian Chess Championship set to be held from 16th to 20th April 2025.
For this year’s edition of MCC25, MCF has confirmed the venue to be in Subang Jaya, and it will be the first time in three(3) years that the event has returned to Klang Valley.
MCF looks forward to the support and cooperation from the chess community towards its program and activities.
MCC 2025
The Annual Malaysian Chess Championship 2025 is set to be hosted by SEGi College Subang Jaya from the 16th of April to the 20th of April 2025.
Entry Fee is FOC for Titled players (IM/WIM/NM/WNM) and those above FIDE Rating of 2200 for Men and 2000 for Women.
Each state is entitled to send 2 players each for the Open/Men and Women event at discounted rates. State are also allowed to nominate potential players who have a rating between 1600 and 1800 as long as the 2 quota allocation is not exceeded. No players below FIDE Rating of 1600 and Unrated are allowed to play in the Open/Men event. For the Women event, only Unrated players are not allowed to play as MCF would like to encourage more Women to play in the main event.
The MCC event will also offer the Challenger category for players below a FIDE Rating of 1800 and Unrated players

NA SEMINAR 2/2025
Set to be held on the 24th and 25th of May 2025 (Saturday/Sunday) at MCF Office in Seri Kembangan, the Seminar will cover the Laws of Chess, Pairing methodology, standard equipment and discussion sessions.
This is the second NA Seminar to be organized for 2025 and MCF will plan to conduct at least 2 more seminars – one seminar per quarter, as part of MCF development strategy to create more qualified Arbiters in the country.
The fee to join is RM230 and MCF is offering a RM180 participation fees for Teachers who are interested to attend. The fee also includes NA Exam fee which will be held at a later date (July/August). Those that have joined the NA Seminar is able to join the session for FREE.
MCF Office – Event News
The 2nd Quarter Blitz for 2025 will be held on 5th April 2025 starting at 8:30pm. The event will be held in conjunction with MCF Hari Raya Open House which is expected to start at 6:00pm. All are welcome to join but food are limited – to be served while it lasts.

MCF Calendar for 2025 – UPDATED
The Malaysian Chess Federation has updated its Calendar of events for 2025 following confirmations received from venue operators and sponsors.
While most of the events will continue to be organized as plan, two (2) events have to be postponed to a later date which are the Corporate Day event – to be held on 2nd of June, and National Scholastic event – planned for 18th to 20th of July 2025. While the Corporate Day event is like to be held within Klang Valley, the National Scholastic event will make its way up north to Perak (not Taiping) pending discission and confirmation from venue management.
To date, the Azerbaijan event is confirmed to be held at UiTM Shah Alam on 17th May, the NSTP – MCF Heboh Catur 2025 to be held at WTC KL from 28th May to 1st June, and the Interschool to be held at IYCKL on the 7th and 8th of June.
IYCKL will once again host the National Open Team Chess Championship – the PMX Trophy, from 26th to 29th of June and one week prior to the event, the revival of Malaysian Masters shall be organized at Chess Hub from 18th to 22nd June 2025.
MCF Office Location – Where To Find Us
Since September 2024, MCF has opened its official office located at Taman Equine, Seri Kembangan, Selangor. Managed by a small group of volunteers and committee members, the office serves as MCF center of activities for weekend events, Seminars and a Meeting place.
Since its inception, the office has hosted and organized several Age Group events, Standard events, Quarterly Blitz, NA Seminars and Swiss Manager Classes.
