The MCF Chess Calendar for 2026 has been updated as of 18th April 2026, to reflect changes that were amended and added within the calendar.
The following events have now been confirmed, and official registrations will be opened within the week of 20th April 2026
4th Azerbaijan Remembrance Day 2026 – 10th May 2026
The event will once again be held in UiTM Hotel Shah Alam on the 10th of May 2026. This will be a Rapid event over 7 rounds, divided between Men and Women events using a time control of 15 mins + 10 seconds increment. Entry is limited to 200 players, and the prize fund for the event has been maintained at RM7,200, which is similar to last year’s.
3rd National Interschool Chess Championship 2026 – 16th & 17th May 2026
This year’s event will be held on the 16th and 17th of May 2026, with IYC (International Youth Centre) again agreeing to host the junior event. With last year’s primary school winners being given the opportunity to participate in events in Russia and Kazakhstan, the once-in-a-lifetime offer will provide the attraction for many school teams to participate in this year’s edition.
3rd National Open Team Chess Championship – PMX Trophy – 29th May to 1st June 2026
The 3rd edition of the classical team event will be hosted by AEON Mall Shah Alam, Shah Alam, from the 29th of May to the 1st of June 2026. With 7 rounds of play over Standard Time Control of 90 mins + 30 secs, this year’s event will once again offer RM30,000 to the winners with the eventual champion to earn RM6,000 for their effort.
Malaysian Masters 2026 – 10th June to 14th June 2026
The premier invitational event will take place in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, from the 10th of June to the 14th of June 2026. MCF is finalizing the list of players that have been identified to be a part of the invited list, which will include the podium winners of the recently concluded MCC, the defending champions, the National Junior Champions, and players who are in the top FIDE ranking in the country.
