Malaysia Chess Federation (MCF) congratulates our chess numero uno IM Yeoh Li Tian for securing Malaysia’s first ever Gold Medal in Chess at the 30th SEA GAMES held in Manila, Philippines. Played over 9 rounds all-play-all format using Rapid time control, it was a nail-biting finish for Li Tian as he had to fend challenges coming from some of the regions best chess players led by 130th world ranked Nguyen Ngoc Truong Song of Vietnam.

Compare to the other countries within ASEAN, Malaysia has always been overshadowed by the traditional powerhouses of Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam and to rise for the occasion for IM Yeoh Li Tian, is definitely a cause for celebration for our local chess community

All in all, it is definitely a worth while outing for Li Tian who had to fly back from London to participate in the event, recovering from jet lag, and still be able to perform extremely well at the regional game is something that every Malaysian can be proud of and appreciate the sacrifice that he has made.

MCF would like to take this opportunity to thank DYNAC, EMGS, Y Bhg Dato Rahman and our MCF President Akhramsyah TS Sanusi for their kind sponsorships and effort in making it happen for IM Yeoh Li Tian to be back from London to participate in the 30th SEA GAMES in Manila, Phillipines

CONGRATULATIONS to IM YEOH LI TIAN for making us proud. We love you!

You went, you saw and you conquered!!!
