The first elimination stage of the XTiv Grand Final Knock Out stage is set to start on Tuesday, 10th August with Round of 32 where the top 32 players will compete to fight for the RM 1,000 first prize offered by the Organizer.

The day will start off with the U12 category at 9:00am followed by the Ladies category at 10:15 am and the U18 category at 11:30am. The event will have a short break for lunch before continuing with the Open category at 2:30pm. Some players who are playing in the Cadets and Youth event has requested for their games to be played slightly later as such, a few games will be rescheduled to 3:30pm.

So far, more than 90% of the players qualified have confirmed their participation. For those whose opponent has withdrawn, will proceed to the next Round of 16. Only the Top 8 – Quarterfinalists and above, will each earn cash prizes for their effort. The Round of 32 table is as below.

For the Knock Out format, the time control remains at 8 mins + 2 secs per game. The higher ranked player (indicated by the number on the left/right of the players name), will play White in the first game, and Black the next. If score is tied at 1-1, the game will move to Armageddon tie break format where White has 5 minutes of play against Black 4 minutes with no incremental time given. In this format, White MUST WIN whereas Black needs only a Draw to qualify. The higher ranked player will choose whether he/she wants to play White or Black in the Armageddon Tie Break. If the higher ranked player refuse to choose, he will play White as default.

Only the top 8 (those qualify for the Quarter Final) are eligible for cash prizes. The next stage which is the Round of 16, will be played on Saturday morning starting at 9:00am with the U12 category, 10:00am for the Ladies category, 11:00am for the U18 category and 12:00noon for the Open category. The Quarterfinal will be played on Saturday afternoon starting at 2:00pm but pending the results of the Round of 16, some rounds may start earlier or later, or simultaneously depending on the players who have qualified.
