The XTiv series is coming to an end tomorrow with the Semi Finals and Finals to be contested tomorrow between 8 pairs of some of the best players in the country.

The Semi Finals for the Ladies and U18 categories will be held at 9:00am and the U12 and Open categories to be held at 10:30am. Once done, the Finals (and 3rd/4th placing) for the Ladies and U18 categories will be staged at 3:00pm followed by the U12 and Open categories to be held at 4:30pm.

For the Ladies Semi Final, WCM Nithyalakshmi will be going against Nur Faiqah Aminuddin and in the second Semi Final, we will see Swetha Thamil Manni taking on Nurul Akma Quzaina Khairolhisal. Nithya is definitely the more experience of the lot but, she will definitely face strong challenge from up and coming Nurul Akma who is considered one of the better Rapid women player in the country.

For the U18 category, CM Tan Jun Ying will face Muhd Faqih Aminuddin -Faiqah’s brother, while the other pair will see Lai Hong Jun going against Kavin Mohan. Jun Ying has been consistent in his play and is the number one seed for the tournament while Kavin Mohan is one of the better young generations of chess player with a refreshed experience coming off from an impressive performance at the recent FIDE World Cadets and Youth event which he participated.

For the U12 category, Lin Jie Xun will face Yee Hao Loong and in the Semi Final, Lee Yun Rui will be up against Ernest Yek Zu Yang. These are some of the top Malaysian Junior players who are ready to make their presence felt within the community, with aspiration to excel beyond our borders.

The most awaited event would be the Open event where we will see the second ranked Malaysian player FM Wong Yinn Loong going against the young and talented Anderson Ang Ern Jie who had recently qualified for the World U12 Knock Out stage. In the other Semi Final, CM Tan Jun Ying – again, facing the 4th ranked player in the country – FM Lye Lik Zang, one of the more consistent chess player in the country.
