Over the last couple of weeks, MCF has begun to receive a few invitations to participate in Over-The-Board events hosted by many countries who seems to have reopened their borders for entry. With Malaysia also easing its travelling requirements abroad, it may be an opportune moment for players to consider joining these events to help improve their FIDE ratings, or to start rekindling with Over The Board play which as eluded many of us for the past year and a half or so.

Some of the Over-The-Board invitations that Malaysians can consider are as follows:
Sheikh Russel International Grandmasters Chess Tournament 2021 (For IM and GM only)
Organized by the Bangladesh Chess Federation, the event will be held from 19th to 27th October in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The event is only offered to GMs and IMs hence, IMs who are interested to participate in this event, is advised to contact MCF Secretariat as soon as possible to confirm their interest as the event closing date is set for 5th October 2021 – which is only a couple of days away. Except for the Airfare, free board and lodging will be provided for the IM taking part.

Asian Seniors Chess Championships 2021
Another invitation was received from the Syrian Arab Chess Federation for Malaysians to participate in the Asian Seniors Chess Championship 2021 scheduled to be held from 31st October until 9th November in Damascus, Syria.
