A small group of chess enthusiasts in Phuket Thailand – dubbed the Blue Chevaliers, is planning to organize the Blue Chevaliers Open Phuket 2022 which is scheduled from the 11th to the 16th of July 2022. Hosted by Kudo Hotel alongside Phuket’s famous Patong beach, the 9 rounds Swiss event will use the more common 90 minutes + 30 seconds time control.

Entry fees shall be 2,400 BAHT for players with a FIDE rating of 1500 and above, and 2,800 BAHT for players below the mark – roughly between RM300 and RM360 per person. The organizer is putting a limit of only 48 players to be accepted for the event as such, while the closing date is set for 24th June 2022, the registration might close earlier if the maximum number of participants has been met.

Organizers will enforce full COVID19 SOP procedures hence, players who are interested to participate should contact the organizer to learn more about what needs to be done prior to, during, and throughout the duration of the event to ensure that the Rules and Regulations are not breached.

With such a nice setting, even if you are not able to enjoy your chess game – on the bright side of things, the sandy beach, the clear blue ocean, and the serenity of Kudo Hotel will at least make up for it.
