The Malaysian Chess Federation would like to wish all our Players – Malaysia 1 and Malaysia 2, all the best in the upcoming event and that everyone will gain valuable experience and opportunities pitting their mind against some of the best players in the world. Team Captains for the Malaysian Teams are Masrin Erowan (for Malaysia 1) and Muhd Khairy Jansar (for Malaysia 2)

Some of the more interesting fact about the event – as posted in FIDE newsletter are:
1. The are 61 teams with a total of 396 players (including reserves) are participating in the Olympiad.
2. There are 45 countries playing – 21 teams from Asia, 20 from Europe, 13 from the Americas, and 7 from Africa.
3. The youngest player is Nguyen Tran, a 9 year old player from the USA.
4. The oldest player is Frenchman Aldric Gomez who is 79 years old
Some of the more prominent players playing – by strength, are Polish GM Marcin Tazbir (FIDE Rating 2513), Russian Alexey Smirnov (FIDE Rating 2436), Ukrainian IM Igor Yarmonov (FIDE Rating 2391) and another Russian FM Stanislav Babarykin (FIDE Rating 2387)

CET 15:00 is equivalent to 22:00 Malaysian Time
Time control for the event is 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment

For tomorrow’s opening Round 1, Malaysia 1 has been paired against Hungary whilst Malaysia 2 has been paired to play Colombia 1
