The National States Chess Championship 2022 event is ON with the Sabah Chess Association agreeing to host this year’s edition which has been scheduled to be held in the city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from the 22nd to the 24th of November 2022.

The championship will be divided into the Open and Woman events with the eventual Champion of each event set to earn the first prize fund of RM3,000 each.

For this year’s edition, each state is allowed to field up to two (2) teams for each of the Open and Women events with Sabah – being the host of the event, having the right to field a 3rd team for each of the categories. As the host, Sabah may also enter a 4th team to even up the field to avoid teams from getting byes. This FIDE Rated event shall be played over 6 Rounds Swiss with a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds.

The entry fee for each of the MCF Affiliated State teams is RM3,000 which includes full board and lodging for all 5 players at the official event hotel. Non-MCF Affiliates are also allowed to enter but are subject to MCF Approval with the entry fee set at RM3,200. Please take note that the closing date to register for the Championship is set for 31st October 2022.
