MCF would like to extend its thanks to all involved in the MCF KUPTM National Hybrid Online Individual Open and Challenger Chess Championship 2021 which was held via TORNELO online platform from 31st March to 4th April 2021. The event was participated by 34 players in the Open Category and 92 players in the Challenger category.

A special thanks to the management of KUPTM – Kolej Universiti Poly Tech MARA Kuala Lumpur, who jumped on board to offer their wonderful campus as one of the Hybrid Centers for the event. Also to FIDE (Planning and Development Commission) for the fund provided to run the experimental Hybrid format, and to YB Dato Sri Dr. Santhara – Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Federal Territories, for the Ministry’s contribution to allow MCF to proceed with the event to conclusion.

It is interesting to note that the MCF KUPTM National Hybrid event became the first Malaysia event to be FIDE Rated since the onset of the pandemic more than a year ago. It was also the first Classical Chess event organized in Malaysia via Hybrid Online considering that many online events opted for the quicker Rapid or Blitz time control. After registering the event with FIDE, and the ensuing appeal and correspondences with the international entity, the event was accepted and the rating report has been officially published and calculated into players May 2021 rating. FIDE rating reports for both event can be found at FIDE website by clicking HERE

Those who are interested to download the report for the event, can do so by CLICKING HERE to see the photos of players, officials and Hybrid Centers that took part in the event.

MCF is now moving forward to get the second FIDE Rated Hybrid event to be held in June/July – more news of these events will be made public once it is accepted and approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).
