It was an almost perfect tournament for Poh Yu Tian who scored 8 points out of 9 games with 7 wins and 2 draws to be crowned as the outright champion of MCF-KUPTM National Hybrid Chess Championship 2021. Yu Tian drew his 6th round game against veteran Abdullah Che Hassan and his second draw came the next round against Tan Yi Xun.

List of prize winners for the Open Section are as follows:

For the Challenger Category, with 2 players sharing 8 points, Koay Yu Huang edged Shareef Basil Mohamad Shaiden by tie break to claim the Challenger crown with the latter in the runner up spot, followed by Lee Ru Rui in 3rd place.
