In view of the current MCO being enforced in the Klang Valley area until 28th October 2020, the Malaysian Chess Federation has decided to postpone its AGM which was schedule to be held on 29th October 2020, to a later date when the situation has improved and the MCO has been lifted.

While the new date is yet to be set – pending further announcement from the National Security Council, MCF strives to complete the constitutional requirement before the year ends. MCF is also seeking the advise from COS office whether the AGM can be postponed to next year – considering the challenging situation that many are facing in 2020, or whether the AGM can be done via ZOOM or other online/video application in order to meet the dateline. Since this year’s AGM will not involve any election for the office bearers, it may not be critical to have a face to face session and conducting it via video conference should be an acceptable alternative if most of the state affiliates agree to the arrangement.

MCF will continue to monitor the situation and will update all it state affiliates as and when there is progress and development on the MCO situation. In the meantime, MCF wishes everyone to #staysafe and #stayhome – #kitajagakita.
