The “really final list” is now confirmed with IM Ooi Zhi Yang and WFM Tan Li Ting as the latest addition to this year’s MCC event. While the number of players may have reduced for the Open section, it matches the lowest number of participants recorded in 2013 which is 46 players, and one of the stronger fields (based on average rating) since 2015 at an average rating of 1720.

For the Women section, this will be the strongest event since 2012 with an average rating of 1573, and for once, the top seed for the Women section is higher ranked than the open section. The number of players for the women’s event is also higher than in the last edition.

For the newly added Challenger Section – open to both Men and Women below ELO Rating of 1600, there are 26 players vying for the top spots.
