Due to overwhelming response and limited space with the Hybrid Centers, the Malaysian Chess Federation has decided to close the Registration for the Hybrid event one day earlier and will not accept anymore applications.

Currently, MCF has 16 Hybrid Centers all over the country and 2 independent Hybrid centers set up by 2 independent schools – one each in Kuala Lumpur and Kedah. These independent Hybrid centers are only catering to their internal students hence, no outsiders are allowed to play from these centers.

The initial Hybrid centers of 14 grew to 16 with additional centers being set up in Batu Pahat and Bangi – both of which were set up by chess coaches and trainers who noted the interest and demand form their students and were quickly filled up.

As of now, there are almost 200 players who have registered for the event where initially, only 60 players were forecasted to take part.
