At the recently concluded Asian Junior Online Championship for Players with Disabilities held via the Tornelo platform, Malaysia’s Ainul Mardhiah Mohd Afif did well to earn the second spot in the Girls event which was participated by players from Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Philipines, Iran, and Kyrgyzstan. In the event, Kurmanalina Tomiris of Kazakhstan won the event with Kudainazarova Dariia of Kyrgyzstan rounding up the podium. Malaysia’s other participant – Lim Yee Jin, took the 4th spot.

With a Rapid time limit of 10 minutes + 10 seconds per move per player, the 5 rounds event started on Friday with 1 round, followed by 2 rounds each on Saturday, and Sunday. However, for the Boys event – with 22 players participating in the event, it was held over 7 rounds with one additional round added for Friday and Saturday. Players from Bhutan, China, and Uzbekistan joined the Boys event to make up for the additional numbers.

In the Boys event, Malaysia’s top Para player – Loo Pin Xie, missed the podium cut due to the lower tie break and had to settle for 4th place behind Sadari Parsa of Iran. The top finisher was Kimsanboyev Axadxon of Uzbekistan with Rahmat Pour Armin – also of Iran, in the runner-up position. Malaysia’s Muhd Adib Rusydan Suharman did well to finish at 6th spot with Abdurrahman Mohd Afif in 11th spot, followed by Wan Syahmirul Azhan Syahrul Adzman in 12th spot and Muhd Danish Arif Mohd Afif in 14th spot.
