It was awesome!

Our two boys overcame their Round of 16 encounters to record impressive wins against their respective opponents. Even more for Anderson Ang in the U10 section when his game had to be stopped for more than 10 minutes as there were some issues with the server requiring the players to halt play. At that point of time, the game does not look too promising for our young lad but after the game resumed, Anderson gained the initiative to turn the advantage around and recorded his victory to advance to the quarter final Round of 8 later today. Drawing the first round, Anderson will advance after scoring a 1.5-0.5 win against his opponent Mauricio Emmanuel Marujo Pardo

On the hand, Poh Yu Tian cruised to a 2-0 win after his convincing wins against Erick Zhao – the first one handling the black pieces in a 136 moves marathon, but the much shorter 20 move game in the second game handling the white pieces.

The quarter final round will start tonight at 10:00pm Malaysia Local Time and can be viewed via the Tornelo chess playing platform.

Good luck Anderson and Yu Tian!!!
