The Malaysian Chess Federation will be collaborating with NSTP (News Straits Time Press) – a member of the Media Prima Group, to organize the NSTP – MCF Mini Chess Festival 2025 from the 28th of May to 1st of June 2025. The event is scheduled to be held at World Trade Center Kuala Lumpur Level 3 (Redang Room) in conjunction with Pesta Buku organized at the same venue.
An array of events have been outlined starting with the NSTP – MCF Open Blitz Chess Tournament to be held on 28th May 2025 (Wednesday) starting at 6:00pm (Yes! It is an evening event….) followed by the NSTP – MCF National Youth Rapid Chess Championship on Thursday (since it is the beginning of school holiday) and NSTP – MCF National Youth Blitz Chess Championship on Friday (after Friday prayers). Both the Youth Rapid and Blitz event are for players in the U10, U14 and U18 age groups divided into Open/Boys and Girls events.
On Saturday, the Mini Festival will continue with the NSTP – MCF Open Individual Rapid Chess Tournament and the closing event on Sunday with the NSTP – MCF Open Team Rapid Chess Tournament. Both events are open to all players with a time control of 15 mins + 10 seconds.
For the Youth events, the entry fee is RM60 for players playing in both Rapid and Blitz event (or just Rapid) and for those who would like to play only in the Blitz event, the fee shall be RM35. Winners will be presented with Medals and Certificates and all players will receive e-certs once the event concludes.
Entry fees for the Blitz, Open Individual and Open Team varies as it is dependent on Rating, and Team Composition. Total Prize fund is RM2,000 for the Blitz event, RM4,000 for the Individual Rapid and RM14,000 for the Team Rapid.
