With news that the Asian and Eastern Asia Cadets to be held in April and July respectively, the Malaysian Chess Federation has decided to swap the dates for the National Youth Youth to be held earlier in the year and the Scholastic edition to be pushed back to a later date in May. Scheduled from the 31st of January until the 2nd of February 2025, the National Youth Chess Championship will be held at Hotel Taiping Perdana, Taiping, Perak and is expected to attract almost 500 players from all over the country to the annual junior event.

The entry fee is RM60 per player – regardless of age, gender and rating, and the closing date to sign up is the 24th of January 2025. Entries received after this date are accepted at the discretion of the organizer/MCF pending seats and space availability, and with an additional fee of RM50 as penalty.

Scheduled to start on Friday, 31st January 2025 at 2:00pm, tournament will use a Standard time control of 30 minutes + 30 seconds with players requiring to write all moves until the game ends. Depending on the number of players for each category, the number of rounds may differ between six(6) and eight(8) rounds depending on the number of players that have signed up. For categories that have less than 7 players, MCF may merge the age group with the nearest higher or lower category, or with a different gender group.
