The Malaysian Chess Federation invites all state affiliates to field teams for the upcoming National Interstate Chess Championship 2023 to be held at Dewan Semarak, Universiti Teknologi Mara Cawangan Perlis, Kampus Arau, Perlis from 11th to 14th December 2023.

For this year’s edition, the main organizer will be the Persatuan Catur Negeri Perlis and to make the event more interesting, the organizer has decided to add another category – the Youth Team event, in addition to the Open/Men and Women events. Each team should field a minimum of 4 players with optional 2 reserves. For the Juniors Team, all players must have been born after 1st January 2005 or no more than 18 years at time of registration. And for the Junior Teams, there is no restriction to the number of males or females that are fielded in the team.

The addition of the Junior team event is added in view of the upcoming SUKMA event where considered to be a good training ground. On the same, there is no limit to the number of teams a state can send as long as they are endorsed and approved by the state association, and limited to available space in the tournament hall.

Contested over 6 rounds of play, the time controlled deployed will be the classical 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per player per game with each team required to field at least 4 main players and 2 substitutes.

With more than RM17,000 in cash to be given away for the eventual winning teams, this will be one of the more lucrative prizes ever offered for a State Team event in recent years.

Entry fees are RM600 for the Open/Men and Women team, and RM500 for the Junior team. Registration must go endorsed and/or selected by the respective State Association, and submitted before 30th November 2023.

Event brochure, registration form and regulations are as per attached below.
