MCF are looking for qualified and potential young chess players to fill up the vacant slots to represent Malaysia at the Commonwealth Chess Championship in Melaka from 19th to 28th February 2024. The category of events that need to be filled up are: Under 8 (Open), Under 8 (Girls), Under 10 (Open), Under 14 (Open) and OKU/Player with Disability for the Open Category. Closing date to apply is 15th January 2024

MCF also is please to announced that the winner of the Commonwealth Open event shall be entitled to earn a direct IM title as per the Regulations approved by FIDE.

To apply, please go to https://forms.gle/U19H3FuS129x4gqf7 and complete the form together with a non-refundable application fee of RM50. Should your application is accepted, the RM50 can be deducted from the RM475 payment required for the Registration and Entry Fee to play in the event. All official players will be given accommodation on a twin sharing basis at either the MITC Hotel or Mudzaffar Hotel, which is walking distance from MITC Convention Center.

As of print time, MCF has confirmed participation from India, Singapore, New Zealand, Malta, Mauritius with inquiries received from Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

With one more week before the registration closes, MCF expects many players will sprint for the last minute rush to register and play at the Championship.
