In its continuing effort to promote competitive Online Chess activities, FIDE has invited Chess Federations from all over the world to participate in its inaugural 1st FIDE Junior Online Cup for Players U20 with Disabilities. FIDE Commission for the Disabled (DIS) will be in charge of the event which is scheduled to start on 21st June 2020 with the registration dateline set for 15th June 2020 which is slightly less than a week from today.

Played over a time control of 10 minutes plus 5 seconds increment, the tournament is open to junior chess players ages from 8 years old to 19 years old as of December 31, 2019 and who belongs to any of the three disability categories (visually impaired, hearing impaired and physically disabled), in online format. Players who are interested to join the tournament must register with FIDE via MCF (or directly to dis@fide.com) and provide a scan copy of their medical disability certificate. The event will be played over five (5) rounds using Open Swiss system tournament and hosted by a Hosting Internet Platform (HIP) chosen by FIDE DIS. All relevant information ie chess online platform, registration process and other details will be further explained on FIDE social media and FIDE DIS webpage.  

As per previous practices in organizing Online Chess Tournaments, players must have a laptop to login into the playing platform, and a smart device uses as a monitoring device, and will have to participate in a zoom meeting session to ensure that the Arbiters will be able to monitor them at all times.
