As the final version of the Rules and Regulations of the inaugural ASIAN JUNIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP (Rapid Online) is being shared by the Asian Chess Federation, more good news is in store for the chess community.

First and foremost, the event can now accept three(3) boys and three(3) girls from each Federation for the event and with the initial selection has gone to our three boys; Rohan, Anderson and Amir Ghaazi, MCF is now looking to receive applications to fill up the balance two (2) girls slot to complete the set for our Malaysian representative. WCM Sim Jia Ru who had applied to represent Malaysia when the initial window was opened, is automatically selected as one of our girls representative to the event provided she accepted the offer that is given to her.

As the closing date to submit all the names to ACF has been set for 20th May 2020, applications to complete the girls team must be received by MCF before 11:59pm tomorrow night, Sunday 17th May 2020, to enable the selection committee to make its selection and for MCF to finalize all the prerequisites and documentations on or before 19th May 2020.

As there is no entry fees imposed by Asian Chess Federation, selected players will only have to pay RM20 to MCF for processing fees, and another RM200 as security deposit but refundable once the event is completed. The grand prize winner stands to win a cash prize of USD1,500 with another USD2,000 in the form of lifetime membership to Chess.com website. Second position stands to earn USD1,000 with the 3rd place performer earning USD500. The girls winner stands to win USD750 with another USD500 going to the runner up and another USD250 for the 3rd place finisher. There are also smaller prizes given to all the Zones top performers in the form of Chess.Com membership ranging between USD14 and USD99 in value.

The Asian Junior Chess Championship is scheduled to start on 27th May 2020 and is expected to be completed by 4th June 2020 – a day later than originally planned.
