MCF concluded its Training Program yesterday and things were abuzz at Traju Chess Center in Putrajaya when players, officials, tv crew, production crew and reporters congregate to highlight the closing of MCF National Training Program.
In an interview aired by ASTRO Nadi Arena last night, Head Coach FM Sumant Subramaniam was delighted that the National Training Program concluded successfully albeit not all trainees were able to come for the final face-to-face session due to the pandemic. Nonetheless, Sumant expressed his confidence that the Malaysia Chess Squad should be able to secure some medals at the upcoming Hanoi SEA Games although Malaysia’s numero uno IM Yeoh Li Tian played down his hopes in maintaining his well earned gold achieved at the previous SEA Games 2019. The National Training Program was an idea mooted by FM Sumant and the funding for the program was obtained through OCM Fund which was set up to help Sports Association due to the COVID pandemic. Muhammad Firdaus Ismail, who is also MCF Committee member and Head of Delegation for SEA Games 2019, was kind enough to offer the use of his Traju Chess Center due to its strategic centralized location surrounded by basic amenities that are within walking distance.
The training session which started at 10:00am was conducted by IM Yeoh Li Tian who was assisted by his father NM Yeoh Chin Seng, and moderated by FM Sumant Subramaniam himself. MCF President Akhramsyah also gave his speech to the group followed by interview sessions conducted by ASTRO and the VIBES. The trainees that attended the session was FM Rohan Navaratnam, WCM Chua Jia Tien, WFM Tan Li Ting, Amir Ghaazi Mohd Saprin and the recently crowned National Hybrid Online Ladies Champion 2020 Nurul Akma Quzaina Khairolhisal.
The session ended at about 6:00pm with MCF already planning for the next training phase to be conducted within the next couple of months.

It is a good start for MCF and it is hoped that momentum will continue with more development and improvement to be drawn out and achieved as we progress into the new year 2021.
