UPDATES ON LADIES HYBRID ONLINE (with MCF Rating System) and MORE HYBRID EVENTS PLANNED…..
MCF Secretariat 08/12/2020 0 COMMENTSWith the ladies event gradually picking up pace and 16 players already confirming their slots, Chess Hacks a.k.a. MCF Office, has become the most popular choice for Hybrid location chosen by many with 7 players already confirming their spots. As per SOP regulation, MCF may have to stop the registration at 10 players in order to conform with the regulations to avoid overcrowding while maintaining social distancing within players. Regardless the number of entries received, MCF will honor the prize fund that has been promised to the players as per advertised in the Prospectus with minimal deviation – if any.
On another progress which was agreed by MCF in their workshop earlier in the year – but was not executed due to the pandemic, the Hybrid Online event will also be the first event to be rated using the new MCF Rating System – on a trial basis. With the previous National Rating system discontinued in 2017, MCF has agreed to revive the Rating system and with Hybrid event being as close to a OTB event (with Arbiters overseeing the players), the event environment and the players performance in the event can be deemed as a “controlled and regulated” as per normal.
Closing date for the Hybrid Online Ladies event is set for this Saturday, 12th December 2020. Once all the entries have been received, MCF will conduct a short Zoom briefing for all participants/parents/Arbiters to inform them on the event regulations, and to conduct a Q&A session regarding the new norm playing arrangement.
Since the last Hybrid Center list was published, four (4) more centers has been added to the listing with one (1) in Kuala Terengganu and three (3) in Sarawak – namely Kuching, Sibu and Miri. Although the details for the Hybrid Centers are not yet available, the sudden interest by many organization to be a part of the Hybrid event has been very encouraging.

The next event planned is the National Hybrid Online Juniors U20 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2020 to be held on 9th and 10th January 2021. Although the event is held in 2021, entries will be accepted for those born in the year 2000 or later (which technically means that some players may have already reached 21 years old by the time the event is contested)
