FIDE Veteran Support Program – Relief Fund for Chess Veterans 65+
MCF Secretariat 29/07/2020 0 COMMENTSGreat news for chess players, organizers, enthusiasts, authors, etc., in short chess activists above the age of 65 as the International Chess Federation (FIDE) has announce its pledge to support by providing a relief fund for chess veterans who has been impacted due to the COVID19 pandemic.
In its recent email to the various chess Federations all over the world, FIDE is pleased to announce the continuation of its support to chess veterans. As previously published, an amount of €35,000 has already been distributed in April 2020 among 17 illustrious chess veterans.
To better support the chess veterans community, FIDE has set up a dedicated panel assigned to this task which will consider new applications to distribute an additional relief fund of €15,000, increasing the total find to a record €50,000. In its email, FIDE understand the challenging times that are facing many chess practitioners around the world, especially the veteran and senior communities, by doing their utmost to try and provide support to those who are in dire need.
In order to be eligible for the relief fund, distinguished players, trainers, authors, and promoters of chess aged 65+, who have contributed to the development of chess and who are in an unstable financial situation are welcome to apply for the relief fund.
MCF hereby invites Malaysian veterans chess players, organizers, practitioners, tutors, etc. from all walks of life, to send their applications by submitting their resume/CV to mcfsecretariat@malaysiachess.org, inquiries@malaysiachess.org and mcfselection@malaysiachess.org before 7th August 2020 for MCF to do the necessary evaluation and subsequently, forward the submission to FIDE for consideration:
Applicants should include in their email the following details together with their resume/CV:
- Details of National achievement
- Details of International achievement
- Significant Contribution to the local chess community
- Reasons why they should be considered for the Relief Fund from FIDE
The Malaysian Chess Federation looks forward to receiving the applications from Malaysian Veterans and hope that local Malaysians will benefit from the disbursement of this FIDE relief fund.
