The Malaysian Chess Federation will proceed with the fourth edition of the National Training Program which is scheduled to start from 5th July 2023 until October 2023. This will be the 4th edition of the training program which was initiated in 2020. The program will be managed by the Technical Commission headed by MCF VP2 Sumant Subramaniam who is also the Program Director and MCF National Head Coach.

Trainings will be conducted via Online platform with a total of 16 hours of training per month consisting of 6 hours of personalized training and 10 hours of workshops. The exact training schedule will only be made known once a student has been assigned to a specific trainer as each trainer may have their own style and approach in managing their sessions.

The course fee is RM200 per month – payable upon acceptance and at the start of each month.

To be accepted into the program, an applicant must provide a recommendation letter from a certified coach so support the player’s entry. If there is no recommendation letter, a player can send in a request to be assessed by the Head Coach before their application can be accepted. The assessment fee shall be RM50 per player per application.

Players and participants who have successfully completed the program will be registered into the National player registry which means that they can be considered to represent Malaysia as its official player in selected Regional, Continental, and Global chess championships. Players and participants will also experience high quality training conducted by the top coaches in the country, and invited GMs for special training sessions.

At the completion of the program, each participant will receive a certificate and/or a recommendation letter to acknowledge their achievement and involvement.

The above NTP 4.0 program will focus more on players who fall between the intermediate level player up to the advance level player. MCF plans to open another NTP program targeting the Basic/Beginner players and Parents/Teachers who wants to learn the basic knowledge on chess. Be on the look out for the announcement soon
