In view of the 27th of June 2022 as the closing date to register the National Team for the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022 in Chennai, India, the Malaysian Chess Federation has confirmed and finalized the members of the national squad for both the Open and Women’s Team.

Aside from the 5 Open and 5 Women players going to the event, MCF Officials that will be accompanying our players will be headed by Muhammad Firdaus Ismail as the Head of Delegation, with FM Sumant Subramaniam acting as the Open Team Manager and IM Mok Tze Meng as the Women Team Manager.

Members of the Open Team are FM Lim Zhuo Ren, FM Lye Lik Zang, FM Wong Yinn Long, Poh Yu Tian, and the recently crowned National Master CM Tan Jun Ying

For the Women’s Team, sisters WIM Puteri Munajjah and WFM Puteri Rifqah with WCM Sim Jia Ru – fresh from their Bronze medal haul at the SEA Games, are included in the team. Together with the trio are the newly crowned 2022 National Women Master (again – for the 9th time) WIM Siti Zulaikha Foudzi, and WFM Agnes Chong Kai Ni who was in 3rd place in the same event.

The National squad is set to depart on 27th July 2022 and touch back to Malaysia on 11th August 2022. All the best and Good Luck to our National Squad.
