MCF Secretariat 26/10/2020 0 COMMENTSThe International Chess Federation – FIDE, has recently announced that it will be organizing the FIDE Online World Cadets & Youth Rapid Chess Championships starting from 19th November to 23rd December 2020. For Malaysia who will be competing in the ASIAN Zone, our qualifying rounds will start on 11th December 2020 and should any of our players qualify to advance further, the final rounds will commence from 19th December with the final game to be held on 22nd December followed by the Closing Ceremony the day after. For more info on the event, please CLICK HERE
As earlier mentioned, players within the respective age group who have done well in the recently concluded 1st National Individual Rapid Online Chess Championship will be given the automatic first option to accept the offer failing which, MCF will open the slot for applications from other interested players. Currently, the MCF Selection Committee has identified players from six (6) categories that will be automatically offered a place, while four (4) more categories will be opened for players to apply. The four (4) categories that are now open for application are Boys U14, Girls U10, Girls U12 and Girls U16. For the purpose of selection, a player can apply to enter in the higher age category (i.e. U10 can try to apply for U12) but must specify his/her intention to do so when applying to play.
That said, players who are interested to represent Malaysia to the World Cadet and Youth event are requested to fill up the following form (Please click HERE to download) and attach it to their email and send it to mcfsecretariat@malaysiachess.org with copies to drziner@gmail.com, inquiries@malaysiachess.org and mcfselection@malaysiachess.org. Players are also requested to pay a nominal RM30 selection playoff processing fee to MCF Account (PERSEKUTUAN CATUR MALAYSIA – CIMB Account: 8000649725) and include the proof of payment together with the form.
All applications must be submitted and received by the Selection Committee on or before 3rd November 2020. The selection play off for all the categories will be conducted on 7th and 8th November 2020. Format of selection will depend on the number of applications received by MCF
All players who have been selected to play in the event – either automatically qualified or through selection playoff, will have pay a sum of EUR 50 as FIDE registration fees and additional RM 50 service fees to expedite the application, submission and management of the team.
