The Asian Zonal 3.3 Chess Championship is set to be contested from 5th to 13th May 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia to select the top two Open players, and the top women player to automatically qualify for the FIDE World Cup 2023.
All players from Federations listed within FIDE Zone 3.3 are invited to play in the event with each Federation allowed to send one official representative – where accommodation will be provided by the host country, for each of the Open and Women events.
For Malaysia, the honor to represent the country shall be given to our reigning 2022 champions – they will have the first right of refusal, failing which the Selection Committee will then decide on their replacements. Since MCF will only conduct the MCC 2023 around the same dates, this should be our reigning champions’ last outing as the official Malaysia representatives provided the event is not postponed to a later date, when a new Malaysia Champions are crowned.
For players intending to participate under the open entry, the registration will have to go through MCF as entries will only be accepted via Federation submission. Those intending to participate, please read the following Rules and Regulations, and write to MCF mentioning your intention to do so. We will then provide you with a Registration form to fill up which calculates the cost required for you to enter the event. The estimated cost per person is approximately RM4k which includes payment for the entry fee, registration fee, hotel, and MCF admin fee, excluding airfare from KL to Jakarta. Additional costs – if any, will have to be borne by the players such as added days or changes in the RM-USD exchange rates.
To allow for adequate and timely submission, MCF will close all applications by Sunday, 9th April 2023. All forms submission and payments must be completed before this date
Please direct all correspondences to mcfsecretariat@malaysiachess.org with copies to inquiries@malaysiachess.org for a timely response.
