Commendable Performance of Malaysian Para Chess Athlete at FIDE Event
MCF Secretariat 16/11/2021 0 COMMENTSAfter 9 days of play – 1 round per day, the 4th FIDE World Chess Championship for Players with Disabilities came to a conclusion last Saturday, 13th November 2021. Nine (9) Malaysian hopefuls took part in the event with mixed outcomes and one impressive performance.
Junior Chess player – Loo Pin Xie, continue his fine performance as the top Malaysian finishers in the event having earned 6.5 points from 9 rounds to finish in the 21st place out of 249 players. Pin Xie lost his 3rd and 6th round games, drew his 7th game and won the remaining ones.
Our second best performer in the event was Sabahan Adrian Syah Muming who scored 4.5 points finishing in 113th placing. Three(3) players ended the tournament with 4 points each – Malaccan Mohd Johar Johari, Johorean Lim Yee Jin and Niners Siti Safura Jaafar. Next are Mohd Azzani Ahmad and Amerullah Muda with 3.5 points each, followed by Saiful Azham Othman with 3 points and Muhd Idris Mohd Ibrahim with 2.5
points rounding up the Malaysian Team performances.
In general, despite the low points scored by the players, all of our representatives managed to complete the tournament in better positions compared to their initial seedings. Loo Pin Xie was rated 107 in the tournament and managed to finished the tournament in the top 10% percenter. Similarly, Ardian Syah was ranked 131st but finished the tournament in 113th placing.
