A great outing for our U14 Boys Team A – the Malaysia Avengers, captained by Teh Rui Gen with Poh Yu Tian, Kavin Mohan and Lai Hong Jun as team members, who are currently in the Runner Up spot after 6 rounds of play. The team has amassed 9 match points, 2 points behind leader India A with 11 match points. Although Philippines and Kazakhstan are both having the same match points with Malaysia, our team has garnered 16.5 game points, with Philippines at 16 points and Kazakhstan at 15.5 points. Malaysia will play Kazakhstan B in their 7th round encounter.

Malaysia Team A (Malaysia Avengers) in 2nd place for the Boys U14 category.

Having met the India A team in Round 2 – losing 1-3, it will be a foot race for the top teams including Malaysia to complete the event as the top finishers. With 3 more rounds to go, the team needs to maintain consistency in order to be able to deliver a good and satisfying result for Malaysia. Currently, Poh Yu Tian is the top scorer for the team with a perfect 6 point for 6 games, with Kavin Mohan at 4 points out of 6 games.

The Malaysian Boys Team B (the Malaysian Challengers) led by captain Ferris Lim is currently in 22nd placing with 5 match points. The Malaysia Team B top scorer is Ishaan Quan Tze Navaratnam with 4.5 points followed by Ernest Yek Zu Yang with 4 points.

For the Girls category, both the Malaysian Girls Team A and Team B – the Malaysian Avengers (Girls) and the Challengers (Girls), are tied at 13th and 14th placing having achieved the same 6 match points after 6 rounds. And as luck would have it, both teams will face each other in the 7th round on Table 7. Top Scorer for the Team A Girls is WFM Agnes Chong Kai Ni with 5.5 points and for Team B Girls, the top scorer is Hashsya Nawwaarah Mohd Faris with 4 points.

In any event, all the best to all the Malaysian Teams participating – and we hope that the last 3 rounds will provide the opportunity for the team to strengthen their final position in the tournament. All the best!
