The Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) is pleased to share an invitation from the Jaffna District Chess Association (JDCA) to participate in the 3rd Jaffna International Chess Championship 2025, to be held from 3–7 December 2025 at Chelva Palace, Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
Organised by the JDCA in collaboration with the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, the Jaffna International Chess Championship (JICC) welcomes both rated and unrated players from around the world. The event aims to bring together chess enthusiasts in a celebration of competition, culture, and friendship.
Event Details:
Dates: 3–7 December 2025
Venue: Chelva Palace, Jaffna, Sri Lanka
Format: 10 rounds of classical chess (90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move)
Eligibility: Open to all rated and unrated players
Registration Deadline: 15 November 2025
The tournament offers a total prize pool of 2.4 million LKR (approximately RM33,420), with prizes across multiple categories including Open, Women, Unrated, Rating Groups (1400–1800), Age Categories (U7, U9, U11, U13, U15), and Senior (50+) divisions. The championship also includes team prizes in three categories (minimum five players per team), and a Blitz event featuring prizes for Open, Women, Unrated, Rating, and Age divisions.
All title players (GM, WGM, IM, WIM, FM, WFM) and players rated above 2000 ELO will receive free entry, while players rated above 2200 (2000 for women) are eligible for travel grants and complimentary full-board accommodation. Accommodation and transport assistance are also available upon request for other foreign participants.
