In line with its effort to promote more standard events for the Age Group, and due to the slow response received from the public, the Malaysian Chess Federation has decided to forego the entry fees for this week’s U8 Age Group Standard Chess set to be held at MCF Office on Saturday and Sunday (9th and 10th November 2024). It will now be FREE ENTRY for those interested to participate at this week’s event starting at 9:00am on 9th November 2024 at MCF Office located in Seri Kembangan.

However, due to space constraints, entries are limited to only 40 players and players will play in a single group consist of both boys and girls players. Those who have paid the entry fee, will be requested to fill up a refund form before the start of Round 1 to claim their refund. The free offer is only for the U8 age group event as a mean to promote younger players to acclimatize to the longer time control. For now, the entry fee for all the other events will remain, or will be lowered to promote more entries.

Tournaments will be played either over 5 rounds (if there are less than 32 players) or 6 rounds (if there are more than 32 players) with a time control of 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment. This will be an MCF Rated event where players will earn valuable National Rating points.

To register, please CLICK HERE and select the U8 option. When the form request for proof of payment, please attach a scan IC copy of the player as confirmation instead of attaching the proof of payment.

MCF hopes that many young chess players will take this opportunity to practice and play in events employing Standard Time Control, and to meet and mingle with other players of similar age (and parents of players) to promote friendship and chess camaraderie.
