The Malaysian Chess Federation will be continuing its National Training Program (NTP) for 2024 starting from August 2024 which is expected to concluded by late October or early November 2024. Similar to previous years program ran by MCF Training Commission, the fees to join is RM200 per player and only selected players will be accepted to join the activity.

Training outline and format shall be as follows:
1) Training will be done primarily via Online mode. A special face to face training and practice tournaments will be conducted at MCF Chess Center in Seri Kembangan
2) Up to 16 training hours per month – 6 personalized hours and 10 workshop/group hours
3) Schedule will be shared once all applications have been accepted and players are assigned to their respective coaches/trainers

As per previous years, the fee to join the program is RM200 per month and payments to be completed once players have been selected to join the program.

The criteria and guideline for a player to be accepted into the program are as follows:
1) Have attended previous National Training Programs – the program was started in 2020 (NTP 1.0)
2) Letter of recommendation from a certified coach is required to be accepted into the program
3) If a player does not meet any of the requirement above, he/she can be considered to be accepted by paying an assessment fee of RM50 where the players knowledge, interest and potential will be gauged by a panel of experts. However, entries to the program will only be accepted for September and October intakes. Assessment timeline is set between 10th and 25th August 2024.

The list of coaches for this year’s program will be headed by FM Sumant Subramaniam as MCF National Head Coach, and the panel of coaches and trainers will include GM Ankit Rajpara of India, IM Jimmy Liew, CM Zaidan Zulkipli, NM Marcus Chan and Edwin Lam.

Aside from being trained by some of the highest quality trainer in the country, other benefits that players will enjoy from the program includes being registered into the national player registry, earning certificate of participation and achievement for successful participants, including receiving recommendation letters from MCF for outstanding trainees of the program.
