The National Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship 2025 will take place from 6–7 December 2025 at KL Gateway Mall, Kuala Lumpur, conveniently accessible via the KL Gateway–Universiti LRT Station on the Kelana Jaya Line. The championship is both FIDE Rated and National Rated, featuring individual Rapid and Blitz events conducted using the Swiss System format over nine rounds each. Participation is open to Malaysian citizens only, and all players must possess both an MCF ID and a FIDE ID to compete.
Rapid Event — Saturday, 6 December 2025
- Round 1 starts at 10:00AM
- Time control: 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment
- Format: 9 rounds, Swiss System
- Champion Prize: RM1,000
Blitz Event — Sunday, 7 December 2025
- Round 1 starts at 2:00PM
- Time control: 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment
- Format: 9 rounds, Swiss System
- Champion Prize: RM400
Prize Fund
The total prize fund for the championship is RM6,000, with RM4,000 allocated to the Rapid event and RM2,000 to the Blitz event. Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 players in both Rapid and Blitz, as well as to category winners, including Best Lady, Veteran, OKU, U12, U1600, and Unrated.
Entry Fees
Entry fees are set at RM120 for rated players and RM150 for unrated players, covering both events. Titled players receive complimentary entry, while state entries are available at RM100 per player, limited to four players per state. OKU participants may enter both events for RM60, and Blitz-only entries are available at RM60 (with rating) or RM80 (without rating).
Registration
The registration deadline is 1 December 2025 at 11:30PM, and all registrations must be submitted online with proof of payment attached. Late entries may be considered depending on space and logistics, subject to a penalty fee.
