The Malaysian Chess Federation invites all Junior players below the age of 20 to participate at the upcoming National Junior Chess Championship 2024 to take place from 16th to 18th February 2024. Co-organized and hosted by the AEON Mall Ipoh Klebang in Chemor, Perak, this year’s edition has been brought forward in the interest of a few states who are looking to prepare their SUKMA team to the inaugural chess event in Sarawak which is scheduled from the 17th to the 25th of August 2024. As the final list of players need to be shortlisted by May 2024, and with not too much time left due to Ramadhan and Syawal celebration along the way, and a busy chess calendar for 2024, MCF has agreed to host the event earlier that its usual timing – usually in July or August.

Aside acting as the warm up event for SUKMA, the Champions for both Open/Boys and Girls event will be offered a place to represent Malaysia at similar Junior events at the Asia/Asean levels. However, for the Commonwealth event, the selection to represent Malaysia has already been offered to the Champions of the 2023 editions.

For more information on the National Junior event, please download and read the following brochures and regulations prior to signing up as a participant. Entry fee is RM60 per player (regardless of rating) and closing date is set for 9th February 2024. Time control is 45 minutes + 30 seconds played over 7 rounds, and players will be required to write down their moves.

Looking forward to accept great participation from many young chess players in the country, and all the best to those who will vying for the right to brag as the Best Junior Chess Players in Malaysia.
