National Grand Prix Circuit 2026

With CM Mukhriez Shah crowned as the inaugural GP Champion for 2025 – earning himself the highest ever first prize fund of RM10,000 – the Malaysian Chess Federation will continue organizing the 2nd edition of the National GP Circuit 2026 with nineteen (19) events for players to take part in. While most events will be organized at the MCF Office in Seri Kembang, a few National events will be held outside of the Klang Valley, such as the MCC event in Melaka and the MACC event in Perlis.

MCF would also like to invite State Affiliates and Independent Organizers to be a part of the GP series by submitting their interest to MCF, and expand the possibility of many more players to qualify for the exciting Knock Out round schedule for January 2027.

The first GP Event for 2026 has already concluded in January 2026, but with 18 more in line, there are plenty of opportunities for players to amass the points.

This year’s circuit will see a few exciting changes made to the circuit:
1) The number of qualifiers has been increased to 64 players compared to only 32 for last year’s series. However, only those who survive the initial round and proceed to the Round of 32 will get a shot at the RM30,000 prize fund.
2) The GP points have been classified into 4 different categories, each offering varying GP points to be earned by the top 32 finishers in each event. The categories are Platinum (480 points for National events), Gold (370 points for MCF Quarterly events), Silver (300 points for MCF monthly events), and Bronze (200 points for Challenger/U1800 events)
