The Malaysian Chess Federation is all set to open its office doors come 1st September 2024. In its 50 years history since its inception in August 1974, the opening of MCF official office marks a significant leap from when the Federation had previously shared offices with other organizations and offices usually belonging to the President or a member of the committee. Located on the 1st of floor at No 10-1, Jalan Putra Permai 1b, Taman Equine, 43300 Seri Kembangan, Selangor, the office will also be used as a hub for MCF activities and programs such as Seminars for Arbiters, Chess Classes and Camps, Tournaments, including housing a small team of voluntary staff to manage the Federation day-to-day correspondences and event management.
With a soft opening activity and refreshment set to start from 12:00noon at the office – followed by a 9-round FIDE Rated Blitz Tournament to start at 2:30pm, other activities planned for September includes an NA Seminar on 7th and 8th September, an U2200 Standard 60+30 Classical event on 15th and 16th September (registration to open soon), and Chess Camps for Beginners and Intermediate players during the school break.
For October, a Swiss Manager class is planned for the first week of October followed by another Age Group Classical event, and a possible FA Seminar to be held either at the 3rd weekend or 4th weekend of October. Another Train-The-Trainer session is also being planned for October or early November with another NA Seminar looming by mid/end November 2024. Chess classes on a regular basis – on weekdays from 2:30pm to 6:30pm are also being planned and all MCF National Trainers are welcomed to participate/contribute to run these classes on a regular basis.
MCF also welcomes Chess Coaches and Trainers including Organizers who are keen to use MCF Office for their own personal classes and events, and offer affordable rates to invigorate more activities at the new office. In time, MCF is also keen to conduct weekly meet ups and Round Robin tournaments – at night from 7:30 onwards to those who are keen to join either as a social and fun activity, or a more serious and competitive program.
MCF welcomes inquiries, feedback and proposals on how the office can serve the community, and as a testament that the Federation is gradually making its presence felt, and to provide assurance that chess is moving towards the right direction for improvement and development.
