Malaysia’s Youth Delegation Heads to Bangkok for the Asian Youth Chess Championships 2025

Malaysia’s youth chess delegation has landed in Bangkok, ready for an exciting battle at the 27th Asian Youth Chess Championships 2025, taking place at The Bazaar Bangkok from 20–30 November

The championship begins on 21 November with the Rapid event, followed by Standard rounds from 22–29 November, and concludes with Blitz on 29 November. Our representatives will be competing across multiple age-group categories against some of Asia’s strongest rising talents.

A total of 14 Malaysian players are participating this year—several of whom are coming straight from the recently concluded Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025, demonstrating admirable determination and competitive momentum.

Those who competed in both events include: CM Shen Ree Herng, CM Genivan Genkeswaran, Alisya Zehra, Nur Aara Daniel, Muhammad Aariz Daniel, & Aqilah Husna.

Leading the contingent is Nik Ahmad Farouqi, serving as Head of Delegation and providing guidance, coordination, and support throughout the championship.

This event serves as a valuable platform for our youth players to gain international exposure, test their skills against regional peers, and grow as future leaders of Malaysian chess. Beyond competitive success, the experience also offers opportunities for learning, personal growth, and meaningful connections with players from across Asia.

The Malaysian Chess Federation wishes the team every success in Bangkok. May they compete with discipline, confidence, and a spirit of excellence—carrying the pride of Malaysian chess with them on every move.
