KBS MASTER GAMES 2024 – CATUR

With the success of SUKMA Sarawak, and inline with the nation’s MADANI aspiration to promote a healthy lifestyle for Malaysians, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) has introduced another sporting gala for Malaysians to participate and celebrate – KBS Masters Sports Carnival 2024, or the Karnival Sukan Master KBS 2024. Set to be held from the 21st of November 2024 (with the Opening Ceremony at 4:30pm), the four (4) days sports meet will end on Sunday, 24th November 2024. With SUKMA focusing on the younger age groups of below 21 years old, KBS Master aims at the opposite spectrum of the population to attract the older generation of 40 years and above.

Eleven (11) sports have been identified as the core events to kick start the KBS Master Sports series and as a sport that is able to cut through the age and gender barrier, the Malaysian Chess Federation is proud and thankful that chess has been chosen by KBS as one of the sports to be contested at the inaugural edition.

Streamlining with the carnival main concept, the chess tournament is opened only to those above the age of 40 (born on or before 31st December 1984) and will be divided into two(2) main events discipline – Rapid and Blitz. Podium winners in both disciplines and top three (3) best Women players, will each receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals respectively, with additional Certificates of Participation from MCF. While there are no cash prizes awarded to the winners, all participants will receive a complimentary t-shirt and additional goodies provided by the organizers/MSN/KBS. For the Rapid event, the tournament will be played over 9 rounds of play with a time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds while the Blitz event will offer an 11 rounds competition with a time control of 3 minutes + 2 seconds.

An upfront entry fee is set at RM20 per person, and the good news is that, the Malaysian Chess Federation WILL REIMBURSE THE ENTRY FEE for those who holds a valid MCF ID, and participated in both events through to completion. This initiative taken by MCF is to promote more players – especially the veterans and the near veterans, to participate in this first ever KBS Masters Sports Carnival and celebrate chess as one of the most popular sport and mind game among those who are young at heart!

MCF welcomes those who wants to register for an MCF ID (the fee is RM20) or those who wants to renew their ID, do to so as soon as possible. Once the event is completed, MCF will process all the request for reimbursements to those who have played through to completion.

To register, PLEASE CLICK HERE and prepare the upfront payment of RM20 to confirm your registration.

Please read and download the following brochures which contains the Rules and Regulations of the event.
