Exciting Offer for Malaysians to Participate at the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025

With many Malaysians eyeing to participate at the upcoming Commonwealth Chess Championships 2025 to be held from the 8th until the 17th of November 2025, the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) has agreed to remove some of the requirements to allow for more Malaysians to participate at the International event.

Foremost, MCF has agreed to allow Malaysian players to arrange for their own accommodation instead of having to take up a room at the official playing hotel. While the offer still stands – for players to stay at the official hotel (accommodation rate to remain as is), Malaysians can now opt for their own accommodation including staying at home and commute daily to play at the championship.

Official players can also opt to stay at the official hotel (free of charge as per event regulation), or they can also decide to stay elsewhere on their own. However, take note that the organizer will not compensate players for any traveling claims to commute to the playing venue should they opted to stay offsite. And if official players decided to stay at the hotel with their accompanying parents/siblings/coaches/etc., the accommodation rate will need to be paid as per the event regulations.

Malaysian players who are interested to participate at the Commonwealth event will have to pay the necessary entry fee of either USD75 (for official player) or USD150 (for additional players) and another USD110 for registration fee. An additional but compulsory payment of RM120 shall be added as Closing Dinner package for all players in lieu of the fact that players do not stay at the hotel hence. Total payment of RM1,264 (for additional player) is the final figure for local Malaysians to take part in the event.

To enjoy the offer, players must register and pay in full BEFORE 8th OCTOBER 2025 after which, the organizer will charge an additional RM200 late fees. No entries will be entertained after 31st October 2025.

On the same note, in lieu of the Registration fee for all accompanying persons/parents who are interested to attend the Closing Dinner and enter the playing hall, the fee is at RM120 per person for either of the passes, or RM180 for both passes as a package. Payment for Closing Dinner and/or Hall Passes must be made before 1st November 2025 failing which the cost will double i.e. RM240 for each pass or RM360 for both as a package. Take note that parents/accompanying persons without the hall pass will not be allowed to enter the playing area at all times.

To Register as a player, or to purchase the Closing Dinner and Hall Pass options, please go to https://forms.gle/xMNAot524feyi9U39 and share the proof of payment to confirm your interest. Take note that Registration final day is 8th October 2025 and Closing Dinner/Hall Pass closes on 31st October 2025.

The Malaysian Chess Federation hopes that the changed requirement will attract more Malaysians to participate in this annual international chess event which is expected to shift to halfway across the globe for the 2026 edition.
