With positive responses received from almost all the countries within FIDE Asia Zone 3.3 and 3.5, and a few requests from local players, the closing date for the Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship to be held in Penang later next month, has been extended to the 23rd of June 2024.

As of today, 151 players from 11 countries have registered for the event including 46 players from Malaysia and 37 players from Mongolia.

The organizers are hopeful that the numbers will break the 250 barrier with expected entries of more than 100 from China, Hongkong, Singapore and South Korea.
